The Need
Penn DBEI is a uniquely structured department: three academic divisions operating as one research entity. As the department grew in visibility and research output, its website no longer reflected the scale, sophistication, or collaborative nature of its work. Content was siloed, faculty visibility was limited, and the experience lacked cohesion across divisions.
The department needed:
A clearer, unified identity across three divisions
Stronger positioning as a research leader
Improved faculty discoverability
A scalable CMS structure to support ongoing growth
A more compelling recruitment experience for students and faculty

The Work
I led the engagement from discovery through launch, serving as the primary point of contact between DBEI stakeholders and our internal UX, design, and development teams.
The Outcome
The new DBEI site now:
Clearly communicates unity across three divisions
Surfaces faculty research dynamically and accurately
Makes it easy to filter and discover research expertise
Supports recruitment and partnership inquiries
Provides a scalable foundation for long-term growth
What once felt fragmented now feels cohesive, modern, and reflective of DBEI’s position as a national research leader.
